Conformal cooling has provided a new measure of quality and performance for injection molding. While creating conformal cooling systems is possible with complex assemblies, additive manufacturing provides new flexibility and opportunity to optimize cooling in injection molds. Much like simulating the performance of a plastic component with Moldflow, with Autodesk’s latest Netfabb Simulation, the additive manufacturing process of producing inserts, and additions to existing tooling plates, can be simulated.

Netfabb Simulation shows how the additive production process will produce your component:

  • shows the stresses and shrinkage that result from the overall process of printing components,
  • or even how using additive and subtractive processes together can reduce tooling manufacturing times, improve part quality and part performance.
